Barlean’s Fishery has been part of the Pacific Northwest’s working waterfront since 1972 — a family-run seafood hub rooted in Ferndale, Washington. Built on generations of fishing tradition and trust, Barlean’s has always believed that good seafood tells a story: of the ocean, of the people who harvest it, and of the community that gathers to share it.
In 2025, April Dayton officially joined longtime co-owner Mark Riedesel at the helm, bringing fresh energy and vision to Barlean’s next chapter. Together, they’re expanding that original spirit of connection — to the coastline, to local harvesters, and to craft — in a new space built for deeper community engagement.
This year marks the beginning of an exciting transition. Barlean’s is slowly shifting operations from our long-standing Ferndale location down to the heart of Bellingham’s Squalicum Marina, where we’re opening a full-scale retail shop and seafood experience at the corner of Roeder and Coho Way. This new storefront isn’t just a place to buy seafood — it’s a place to connect with it.
We’re proud to source from independent Pacific Northwest fishermen and small-scale producers, offering wild, seasonal seafood that’s live, fresh, and frozen — and always curated with care. Our offerings now also include local goods, rotating artwork, and stories from the sea.
At Barlean’s, we’re curators as much as we are purveyors. We believe in quality over quantity, people over profit, and seafood that’s rooted in place.
